I've made some progress since the last entry (Starting a User Group, Entry #1). Here are some notes on the progress so far:
- Name for the group: Seattle .Net User Group
- Email setup for people interested in the group: info@seattledotnet.org
- I've also got hosting and a url - though nothing is there yet.
- Tentative first meeting date of 2nd Wed of the month in March (March 11, 2009)
Last week I had a nice chat with Charles Sterling at the Seattle/Redmond/Bellevue Nerd Dinner about my thoughts of starting a group downtown and what the possible formats could be ... so here is what we've come up with (subject to change of course):
Meeting Schedule (Plan A)
| 5:30 - 6:00 PM | Mixer, Group news, speaker introduction |
| 6:00 - 6:30 PM | Speaker 1 (Beginner - Intermediate Level) |
| 6:30 - 6:45 PM | Break and speaker introduction |
| 6:45 - 7:30 PM | Speaker 2 (Intermediate - Advanced Level) |
| 7:30 - 8:00 PM | Closing |
Meeting Schedule (Plan B)
| 5:30 - 6:00 PM | Mixer, Group news, speaker introduction |
| 6:00 - 7:00 PM | Speaker (All Levels) |
| 7:00 - 7:30 PM | Closing |
The idea is if we can get 2 speakers lined up and both show up, then more content can be covered with 2 speakers (allowing for different experience levels for the audience and speaker) - otherwise we go with Plan B.
BTW: If you are interested in attending, speaking, helping out or just want to stay in the loop please email info@seattledotnet.org and I'll add you to the list.
Next up finalize the location, get some speakers and network with as many people as I can ...
