Interesting Finds: August 20, 2008 - [Final Cut]

Still playing with the formatting, trying to get it to be more readable in spite of all the *words*. Do you like having the name beside the link or would just the link be better? I've always put the name just to give credit (though the link does too) AND add more google juice for whoever I link to ... but since my site isn't that big, I'm not sure if that is of any value ... anyone have any thoughts on this?

First of all, thanks for making the headings more readable.

Second, while I think it's nice to include author names, I don't think they need to be in bold. I'd rather see bold used to make it easier to scan the page visually (and I'm not typically scanning for the author name). Maybe bold one or two words in the description that identify the topic? That would create extra work for you, though.

I'd also like to see a darker color for the links -- again, when I scan down the page, the blog post titles would be something I'd like to have pop out, but the contrast is too low, I think, with your current link color.

Thanks! This is a terrific service.

I agree with Jacob that the names should not be bold. The links should be more easily visible than the author names. I like the new format a lot though.

The format is cool like this, agree with unbolding the names though. Personally I do scan for both names AND titles. An interesting title combined with a wellknown name will get me to click through quicker probably. And there's a lot of 'required names' that I don't want to miss. Guess it works like this with more people...
And since you asked, a small tip: to get the Google juices rolling to linked posts, you might consider not linking indirectly to the feedburner links, but directly to the post itself. Think Google/Technorati etc. doen't pick up feedburner links (although Google could, since they own FeedBurner...

Way more readable with the bullet list. Not sure I have an opinion about the bold author name issue.

What if you put the article name first, THEN the author? (I'm curious if the author is as important as the content.) Maybe something to try. Either way, this is definitely an improvement.

Alvin: Seems my final cut is starting to look like yours :)

Arjan: I agree with you about the feedburner issue ... good or bad I've written that off as a cost of outsourcing feeds.

Travis: Tried that in last night's entry, what do you think?
