Winter coat recommendations for Seattle?

I seem to have too many wool coats for this coast ... anyone have a good recommendation for a winter coat fit for Seattle winters (cold and rainy weather)?

Yea, it sounds like big money and Gore-Tex kind of weather ... there is a North Face down the street from me, which I've stopped in and found some nice stuff - but wanted to get out to REI to compare a little first.

Anyone have an opinion on REI vs. North Face?

Go to REI and pick their brains. I've gotten great stuff from them.

The REI brand has always served me well -- but I've gotten North Face a time or two when I had to. (Like my tent where NF was the only one who made one long enough.)

Try the Sol Duc Parka by Dutch Harbor Gear. Most of the winter there, you're going to be more concerned about staying dry on your way to the bus stop instead of worrying about freezing. This coat should serve you well. Plus, you'll be supporting a small company just south of Seattle.

Thanks guys, I ended up going to REI and tried on several different jackets ... and ended up buying a North Face jacket ... not sure what the name of it is, but it seems like it will do the job (better than my wool coat).
