Interesting Finds

Busy week ... so I'm a little behind ....

Grady Booch - Architectual Tradeoffs

Larry O'Brien - BizWeek Reports 7.5% Growth in Programmer Jobs

Casey Chesnut - certs … I agree with Casey on 1 and 2, although I am pretty sure I'll go ahead and take to two exams to upgrade my mcsd.net to whatever they are calling the new one. To me there are only 2 reasons to take these exams: 1. if you buy the study guides to get good coverage of what is new and available in the technology and read it .. Then you might as well pay for the exam and pass it (ie. Get up to speed on what's new) and 2. self glorification and bragging rights (or whatever you want to call it to help you sleep better at night). Funny thing about certification exams: they are just like college … you only get out of them what you put into them - you might have a degree … but that doesn't really prove anything does it?

I agree on the cert stuff. Myself am just starting to feel the real desire to take the tests. I don't know why but I just am. It's something I want to accomplish for myself. As with college or certs, they do prove something...they prove that you'll put in the time and effort complete something that you might not want to in the first place. A character builder of sorts.

How many guys have you worked with that, when they get bored, leave their job to something else instead of sticking it out and digging in to get the edge back and make the company better?

It's all relevant, IMO.

Thanks for the posts.
